Felipe De Mari Scalone and Shawn Everett listening to one of Scalone's mixes - La Fabrique Studios, France, 2022.
Born in 1992, Felipe De Mari Scalone is a Brazilian producer, engineer and mixer. Since 2008, at the age of 16, he has performed with various bands as a drummer, bassist, guitarist, and vocalist, playing shows in both Brazil and Europe. After immersing himself in the music scenes of Amsterdam and London, in 2017, Scalone returned to Brazil and recorded a collection of songs that would become Lighthouse, the debut EP of his project Cyanish. He wrote, produced, recorded, and mixed all the material for the project, discovering a deep passion for the production process.
In 2021, Felipe founded Junkmahal Studio, where he has worked with a variety of artists, including Vitor Bruno, Catiça, 43duo, De Um Filho, De Um Cego, Luvbites, and Sleepwalkin' Mofos, among others.
The following year, Scalone was one of 19 participants selected for the Mix With The Masters seminar, led by renowned producer Shawn Everett (Miley Cyrus, The War On Drugs, Beyoncé, The Killers, Alabama Shakes) at the legendary La Fabrique Studios in the South of France.
In late 2024, Scalone's mix received an honorable mention in the Audionaut Institute’s mixing competition by Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age, Slash, Maroon 5, Weezer).
In 2025, Felipe spent 40 days in California - besides attending the NAMM show and meeting Shawn Everett once again, he also worked as an assistant/apprentice to Chris Sorem (Los Lobos, Local Natives, Gaby Moreno, Rufus Wainwright) at Nest Recorders Studio in Los Angeles. In Sorem’s words, he was “the best assistant I’ve ever had.” Felipe also spent several days in San Francisco mixing with Peter Craft at Boxer Lodge Studio.
Shortly after returning to Brazil, Felipe was invited to appear on the Recording Studio Rockstars podcast by Lij Shaw, which has over 3 million downloads. Felipe is the first - and only, to date - Brazilian to be featured on the show, which has hosted renowned producers such as Bob Clearmountain, Steve Albini, Tom Lord-Alge, Shawn Everett, Andrew Scheps, Michael Brauer, Vance Powell, and Michael Beinhorn, among others.
